These are my grandmothers hats.  I love all of them and now that I have them all out I don't want to get rid of any of them...  But, I live with boys and I don't really have any place for them....

Since I'm feeling like this though I think I'll wait awhile to take them to the Antique mall.  Wait until I know for sure if I want to keep them or not.

I do have a fabulous antique desk from her that I'm never selling, so I am keeping some things of hers...

Aren't these super fun to look at though?

Booth Update

Dahlias

I started moving in yesterday to the Antique Mall, but I couldn't get there until about 3:45 because I had to wait until Jason got home from work.   There is no way I could take the boys... :)

So I had a carload of stuff and things to decorate the current mint green and flowery wallpaper border walls...

So I worked my bottom off until about 4:40 until my friend Holly stopped by, then she helped me unload the car.  Thanks goodness!!   I was supposed to be out of there by 5:00, but I think it was 5:25 when we left.  Then we went out to dinner at Chevy's and had a Margarita!  It's been forever since I went out with a friend.  It was super fun and so nice to chat with her....

So I didn't get the walls finished and barely got some other things thrown in there.  I won't be able to make it there today, as we have swimming this afternoon.  So hopefully Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and then the rest this weekend.

Oh and look at the Dahlia's!  I would take a photo outside where they are growing and more of the poppies, but I haven't weeded in a month...  Ack!

Sideboard

Done!

Buffet2

Just in the nick of time.

Still much more to do...

They're done...

Don't you hate it when someone asks for advice and then they don't take it?   Ya, me too...

I think I may have taken one thing from all of you though... maybe?

Chairs

Chairblack

Chairgreen

Chairblue

While I like the idea of different fabrics, I decided to go with all the same for these.

Mostly because it is what I had and I really have to try and keep the costs down and also because the only other black and white I saw was toile and that was it (for upholstery).   Which would be cool, but I don't want to hunt down 2 other ones when I have no time.  Next time for sure though.

The reason I went with some crazier colors was that I thought it would be a good way to draw some attention to my booth.  If it never sells then I'll change it back to white or black or something more "safe".

Thanks everyone!

Sideboard

On to this!  But don't be scared... It will be white.

Breaking News....

Okay---

Here is the big news flash........

I've got a space at the South Tacoma Antique Mall in Lakewood, Washington.  I'm so excited and I've had my name on a waiting list for a great little mall in Puyallup for quite awhile, but they have no space still and my garage runneth over.

So about 3 months ago I found the South Tacoma Antique Mall on my way to have my Honda serviced.  It's about a block away from the dealership...  So I remember walking in there (it is over 5500 sq feet of antiques and vintage items) and freaking out a little.  After I left I immediately called Karen and I remember telling her that I had just stopped at the most magic antique mall ever!

So long story short, I've got a great little 10x10 space and I get to start moving in on Monday!  I've been collecting things for close to 4 months and I have to say, I've got some great stuff... :)  I plan on showing you guys some stuff along the way and I've got to get my butt in gear to get stuff ready for next week...

Here is the first issue and I need help!

I got a great 1930's farmhouse style table, sideboard and 5 chairs at a garage sale a couple weeks ago and it really needs work.  It is all maple and I plan on painting it. (No arguements from the peanut gallery on painting furniture, I know, I know already)  The stain is in terrible shape and it's not a super valuable set, hence the paint.

Here is the delima..  I have 5 chairs 1 with arms the rest without.  One of the ones without arms is in pretty bad shape.  Here is what it looks like so far.

Chairafter

Chair with new cover and primer.

I'm going to paint the sideboard and table white.  But I think I want to keep the chair with arms (it's awesome) and then sell 3 chairs, but then I can't sell 3 chairs as a set.  Should I paint them all white or should I paint them differnent colors like 1 soft pink, 1 robins egg blue and 1 white?  Should I paint 2 white to sell with the table and one a different color?

Ack!!  I have to get them painted this afternoon, so tell me what you think?  Please!

July 23, 2008

The boys have been going to day camp at the school this week in the mornings and swimming 3 days a week in the afternoons.  So I'm having a harder time this week posting like normal... Agh!  Busy summer!  It's good though because then they don't get too bored.

Anyway, I've got some things I want to share, but don't have the time today!  Hopefully tomorrow or Friday!

Back soon.

Mt. Rainer

We decided to go on a hike this weekend up in the Mt. Rainer National Forest.   We only live about 40 miles from Mt. Rainer and we don't get up there nearly as often as we should.  It is becoming easier now though, since the kids are old enough to hike pretty much as far as we want.  Plus they LOVE it.  So we are going to try and make this more of a routine around here.

It was so beautiful up there this weekend.  About 70 to 75 degrees and sunny skies.  We went in some areas we had never been before and I think they are prettier that the places we have been going.  There were all sorts of pink, purple, yellow, white and red wildflowers all in bloom.  It was great.  Wish I would have gotten a picture of the flowers but I didn't.

Hikereflectionlake

It was so sunny on this patch of snow we could barely see straight.  You can see Mt. Rainer in the background and in this photo it looks like a little hill, not a gigantic mountain.

Hikerl

This is called Reflection Lake and I think if you shoot from the other direction and the water is calm you can see Mt. Rainer and then it is perfectly reflected in the water.  I told Jason we should come up sometime at dawn just to see if we could get that shot.

Hikefawn

Look at this little sweet pea!  I think the wildlife have it made up in the park.  They aren't too scared of the people, although this little one trotted off after we were about 20 feet away.

Hikemamadeer

Here is mama we think.  She was less scared and was only about 10 feet away from us.

Hikeotherdeer

This is at our second hiking stop and we saw yet another unafraid deer.  They boys thought the deer were so awesome.

Hikeforcedsmiles

I was thinking maybe I could get a Christmas card photo, but all I kept getting were forced smiles...

Besides, I don't know about having Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck in my Christmas Card photo.

Hiketicket1

During our hike we had to stop and Sam had to write us a "ticket".  He has this play police ticket book and he is in love with it.  We got it at a garage sale.  He has been giving everyone in the neighborhood tickets for various offenses, like sitting in our grass and riding their bike too fast.

Hiketicket2

Hiketicket3

I was ready for a break too though.  This hike back up a hill raised 1100 ft. in just 1/2 a mile!  Sam only had to be carried for about 5 minutes and the rest of the time both kids walked!  We couldn't believe it.  I think I was crankier than anyone else...

But it was worth it to get to this amazing little spot with a waterfall in the shade...

Backyard

Remember when I planted Dahlia tubers this spring then the next weekend it snowed?  Well, most of them have made it!  I think I'm missing about 3 of the 12 I planted.  That is pretty good, plus I seriously might have planted the tuber upside down.  I've never planted them before, and the picture on the bag looked nothing like the the tuber I held in my hand, so who knows?  I'm sure you landscapers and nursery owners are laughing at me, but that's okay... I can take it.  :)

And look, look....

Dahlia

Here they come!!  I'm so excited!  This one is the one that is furthest along...  I can't wait until more of them start opening up.

Then remember when I just threw those poppy seeds out... and my friend Holly told me they would eventually take over?

Poppy

Well, they haven't taken over yet, but I do have a lot of them...  But this one is new and just bloomed today.  I have never seen one like this before and I love it!!  Love the soft pink color.

I'll post more photos when they everything else is blooming...

Project Runway

Starts tonight!!  Just so you know...  It is one of my top 5 favorite shows and Jason even really likes it.  He use to hate it, but then he watched it...  He even reminded me we have to record it because he is on second shift this week.

It is so funny when he comments about the clothes they make, it cracks me up.  He is the biggest boy, boy there is.  Meaning he doesn't have a metro-sexual bone in his body and could care less about clothes, but he always has opinions on Project Runway.  Maybe that's one of the reasons I love watching it, because I love that he likes it.  I'm sure he'll love that I told you that. :)

Thanks for the birthday wishes!  Oh, and just so you know, my hair is not short short.  It is just short compared to what it has been.  It is about shoulder length now...  I'll try and post a picture of it in a day or two...  If you can't tell, photos of myself are not my favorite things to post on my blog... :)

I'm convinced the camera adds 25 pounds, not 10.

3....5....

Well, it's all down hill from here....  Just kidding.  I'm now 35.  Had my birthday recently.

I really don't feel like it is downhill from here, but it does seem weird.   I don't feel old enough to be 35.  I don't feel like I'm even 25.  I guess that's the good news, huh?

You know, you all remember being about 13 and thinking that 35 was ANCIENT.   Well, no so much.... now.

Maybe I'm having a mid life crisis, because I recently cut my hair off and went back to being blonder.   I wouldn't say blonde though.  You know, like I was when I actually was 25.

But instead of a new sports car or liposuction.... I got....

Boots

these...  So I guess if that's all the wilder I get, it's not much of mid life crisis huh?  I think the pink tops are pretty wild though... :)

Later Gators!
