Basketball

Bballben Bball BballsamFirst of all these photos are terrible, but that's okay.  Ben had his last basketball game last Saturday and got his trophy that is now on our mantle in the living room (for who knows how long).

He had so much fun.  To him it was better than soccer, T-ball and swimming.  He just loved it.  It was first and second graders and let me tell you there is HUGE difference between first and second graders.  Ben was shy and really didn't know what he was doing, but he really improved and we've got our hoop up out in the cul-de-sac, so next year when he is the second grader he will be all over it.  :)

The best part about the whole season was his coach.  He was so patient and soft spoken.  So good for Ben.  He really was encouraging and really took  the time with each kid.  He was great.  His kid is a second grader so we probably won't get him next year. :(  But it was a great first experience for Ben.

Then there is Sam... who after about 5 minutes of watching brother wants to know when it is time to leave.  So this is what he does during the whole game......

Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA DAN!

Sam Today

Sam - Mom can I have some more oreos?

Me - No, one package (single serving packages) is enough for today.

Sam - Please mom.

Me - No.

Sam - PLLLLEEEEAAAAASE!!!  MOOOOOOOOOM!!

Me - No.  One is enough.  Maybe you can have another one tomorrow.

Sam - UGH!  Please!

Me - No.

Sam - But mom, eating oreos makes my heart feel so much love!

I about died laughing and then realized how bad this is.  How he equates love with food.  Ugh, we may have another Jill on our hands... to me LOVE=FOOD.  Hence the extra poundage!!  Poor kid.

Then later he tried to get the oreos by giving me a choice (we are big on giving the kids choices, like you can choose to pick up your toys or you can choose to not play video games today, or something like that).

So Sam says after about 5 minutes - Well, mom, you have a choice... either give me oreos or fruit snacks, it's your choice.

Me- HA! Nice try buster.

Sam - That's it, you pick, it's your choice, Oreos or Fruit Snacks.

Me - Neither Buster, let's go pick up Ben from school.

Sam - Well, then... you can choose tomorrow.

Me - Fine.

That kid is something else.

Grandma's Recipe #2 - Applesauce Cake

Applesauce_cake_recipe Applesauce_cakeThis one is a winner!  I'll give it 4 out of 5 stars.

I think the banana cake was also 4 out of 5 stars, or possibly 4.3 stars out of 5.  :)

It's super easy and you can make it with stuff you probably already have on hand (love that)!

I think this photo is large enough to see the recipe, but if any of you have trouble and want me to post it just let me know.

I just had a warm piece of it and it tastes a lot like gingerbread... only a little appley....  mmmmm

What I like too,  is the name of the Author -   Mrs. Steve Peters.....  Just shows you this must have been typed a good while ago.  I would *never* write Mrs. Jason Radley.  :)

Have a good weekend!

More I Spy...

So, I can't help it when I see this....  I Spy the Rose Petal Betty over here .  (From the Feb 20th post)

Doesn't she make everything look amazing!  Heather has some serious decorating talent!!  If you are in So Cal and want to get your hands on some Rose Petal Betty this weekend she will be taking it to a big Barn sale and she lists the address and times on her blog post...

So Cool!

The Lake and other stuff...

Atthelake Atthelake3 Atthelake2 Benlake Samthrowing Samthrowng2We spent  a couple hours last Saturday at a lake up by Mt. Rainer.  We like to go here because there is hardly ever anyone else there and the boys love to explore all around it.

What is it about throwing rocks in a lake that is so fun?  :)  We all like to do it...

Lily even got in on the action and got all muddy.

Thanks for the comments on the "army room"!  Sam is loving it.

Ben's room is next.  It is currently blue and green and I hand stamped bear and moose and pine trees on about a 8 inch cream stripe around the room.  We were able to keep his a little longer because it was good for a baby and a bigger boy.  Ben wants a "Seahawks" room.  The only reason I can stomach this as a Rams fan is that -

a. I love him
b. If it were the Raiders or the 49er's I   absolutely couldn't stomach it.
c.  we live in Seattle and we can't help it. :)

Sam's was yellow and light blue with dragonfly's and bugs and seemed much more babyish... that's why we did his first.

Rose Petal Betty  news....

Tanya- I am working on a pack with all 8 scents of the Dead Sea Salt Soak.  I'm having a hard time packaging them all together in bags and having the scents not "marry" together. Ya know?

I'm going to try glassine envelopes next and if that doesn't work I'll spring for some cool plastic tubes.  Trying to keep the costs down, yet be totally fabulous!!  :)  I'll keep you updated....

Happy Birthday Mom!!

That's it for today!

Could you guess....

Army1 Army2_2 Armycurtains_2 Armyquiltthat this is what his room would look like?

It is not perfect, but he loves it.  The other walls are just army green and the ceiling is a darker army green.

Grandma Bev made him some curtains and for Christmas she made this quilt for him.  He picked out all the fabric, even the dog bones...

Special Order and stuff

I just wanted to post that if you have a specific request of something "bath and body" that you don't see on my site, you can always email me or leave a comment and I will look into finding it/making it for you.  I'm going to make some massage oil for ShabbyVTchic, so you never know.

I've also done little gift bags for a couple companies and gifts for baby showers and even wedding favors with custom pucker paste labels....

I'm also working on possibly having liquid soap and I've got some other things I'm thinking about too...  Anyway just an FYI...

Also look tomorrow for a photo of Sam's new room.  Jason's mom and I painted while she was here.  I would post it now, but I want to wait for daytime to take the photo.  It's very Sam. :)

We are all doing better and besides a cold that Sam appears to have we are all getting better.  No more Strep Throat.  Thank Goodness!!!

When Jason's mom was here she and I went to see Mame  at the 5th Avenue Theater .  It was really good and the costumes were amazing and the theater itself is gorgeous.  It was originally built in 1926 and I could have just sat there and looked at it for an hour...  Anyway, if your ever in Seattle I highly recommend seeing a show there!

NEW

I have a new Pucker Paste flavor over at Rose Petal Betty .

It is Strawberry Smoothie and it is delightful!!   You should check it out.....

Also, if you have never ordered Pucker Paste because you might think it is sweet tasting... don't worry, none of my flavors are sweet.  I feel like it defeats the purpose because then you are constantly licking your lips.  So they just have a nice scent and they have staying power and leave your lips super soft!  :)

That's it for the this fine and sunny Sunday!

Strep throat...

in da house......

Just Ben so far.

No time to post much, plus I just don't have anything productive to say....  it would just be a bunch of complaining, so I'll wait a day or two to post. :)

If you are the praying type we could use a "get well" prayer or two, we are all so tired of being sick...

More soon.....
