I have a feeling most of my "Weird Fact" post are going to have Jason's name in the first sentence. Or be mostly about Jason. So here we go....
We have lived in Western Washington for over 11 years now. During that 11 years there is one sentence that I have heard so many times, I would be rich if I a dollar for every time I heard it come out of Jason's mouth.
Here it is- "Boy I wish there was a Taco John's around here...."
Let me give you a little background on my husband. He is a simple man, with simple tastes. He can eat the same thing for lunch every day for a year.
One of our biggest issues is that I'm a girl who needs change, loves change, yearns for something new.... Even if it means something as simple as planning a menu.... I can't.... I won't be pigeonholed into a menu! Please!
!!Give me a dinner planned at 5:00pm or give me death!! Okay, I digress. Back to the weird fact...
So every time we go back to Montana we have to stop at Taco Johns and he orders so many Taco Burgers that he *always* makes himself sick eating them all.
There use to be one in Kellogg Idaho, about halfway to Jason's parents house and it was replaced by some other random fast food place about 4 or 5 years ago and every time we drive by it I have to hear muttered obscenities about whatever fast food place has taken the Taco Johns out of Kellogg.
So one day about 2 or 3 years ago my cousin was visiting our area (he lives in Alabama) and he was doing some work on Fort Lewis, which is fairly close to us, so we made a plan for him to come over for dinner.
And I don't know how he does it, but Jason always manages to work "Taco Johns" into a conversation. I think he was asking if there were any Taco Johns in Alabama. I think he secretly tucks away this information for future vacation spots.
So my cousin says no there are no Taco Johns in Alabama, but he had it for lunch today.
WHAT!??!!???!!
Jason about has a heart attack. THERE IS A TACO JOHNS IN WASHINGTON. Only problem, it's on the army base....
I think he seriously considered enlisting.
So fast forward about 3 years of whining and wishing and bugging the little neighbor girls (who's dad is in the Air Force and is at the base all the time) about what they had for dinner and if they had Taco Johns today, to about 2 weeks ago...
Sam had been wanting to go to the Fort Lewis Military Museum (of course), so we went on a Friday afternoon, but had to stop and get a guest pass to get on to the base to see it. We had no idea you could do this.
So after the museum.....
You know what's coming right?
We found the Taco Johns. After Jason ran in and got like 3 pounds of Taco Burgers and we started for home, we noticed on the back of the pass that it says visitors are prohibited from going to the PX. Which is where the Taco John's was. So we high tailed it off the base at the highest rate of speed we could go without bringing attention to ourselves and our hidden "treasure".
AND after all of that..... it turns out...... the Taco John's at Fort Lewis is not nearly as tasty as the Taco Johns in Montana. :)
